Is It Worth It?

There’s no doubt that college and thinking about college can be stressful for people, not only for the student going into college, but their parents as well. It is important to start planning for college early and figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life. Not only can knowing what you want to do with your life be helpful with picking classes and a college, it can also help for planning financially. A lot of people can not pay for college, as it is a big expense. Which means that people need to be preparing on which college they would like to attend so they can start saving for tuition, books, room and board, and many other things that come with the college expense package.

Starting the process of preparing should start your freshman year of high school. When you pick your classes you should be thinking about your future career, if you have one picked out. You have to take certain classes like math and English, but you should try to aim for classes that will help your future in college. If you are thinking about pursuing a career in healthcare, you should try to take some science classes and other things that are tied to that career. Talking to your guidance counselor is a big part in planning your future, they can be very helpful with the help of picking classes and getting you started in thinking about what college you would like to attend. The thought of college is a scary one but is a crucial part if you plan to attend.

Even if you plan for college there is always a chance that it is going to go sideways. You could be the most prepared person for college and something could still go wrong. You should always apply to more than one college for the purposes that you might not get into the one you want. Many people in my school today have picked a college that they are going to. Planning for college can be a very stressful experience for people, especially if they don´t know what they want to do. Thinking about college does not have to be a stressful process because even if you do not know what you would like to do, you can go to a college and do your core classes while you are figuring out what you want to major or minor in.

On the other hand, if you do not plan for college then you are guaranteed to be stressed out while nearing the end of your senior year. Many people do not have the encouragement at home to get things done that are needed for college like scholarships and many more things. Which is why it is important to go to your guidance counselor about these things. Many people do not even know if they want to attend college until the very last minute. It is okay to be unprepared but you can’t expect to get into a high class college if you do not prepare and work on your grades your whole high school career. Planning takes hard work and years of commitment to get into a college that is considered more than a community college.

Being prepared can be very beneficial especially if you know what you want to major in so you can start to prepare yourself for what you are about to get into. It is important to have an idea of what you want to do for the rest of your life, because after high school and college you are almost guaranteed to be working forever.

Planning for college is benefical to your academic success by preparing you and making sure you have the correct requirements for graduation. Making a plan is important especially when you are in college because you have more freedom which means it can be easy to lose track of time. When you are in college, managing your time can be difficult, you have to know how long it takes to get to all your classes from your house or dorm so you know when to leave. In college there is a lot of work and you don´t have class after class like in high school and so you have to manage time in between classes to get your work done. If you don´t have time management, you can get stressed and start to fall behind and falling behind is very different in college then it is in high school.
