Easier to Drive?

Driverless cars are an invention that’s still being changed and improved every single day. Would you drive a self driven car? There are different types of self driven cars. Tesla is kind of self driven when you’re somewhere like the highway. The idea of self-driving cars is scary for lots of people because of the idea of a robot or AI controlling where and how fast they are going. The thought of robots taking over your safety and turning against you can be very scary and I want nothing to do with it.

Is this a safe investment to make? I feel that there is no way of 100 percent knowing. Accidents always happen but it depends on whether or not this accident is the driver’s fault or the car’s fault. I personally want nothing to do with it and don’t trust the self driven cars until they have been used enough. They need to be proven to me before I would be willing to use them. How is anyone supposed to trust them without knowing how safe they are? Driverless cars are not a bad investment but I would suggest waiting a bit longer while the technology becomes more advanced and they can be guaranteed to be safer.

Who are the companies making these cars? Mostly everyone is but not the big name car brands you would think. About eight years ago google started doing it. But supposedly Uber, Apple and a company from China have been working on it as well as a number of other companies. Tesla has been working to make some but for their eclectic cars instead. As the world’s technology gets better and better and companies continue to invent things and come up with new ideas the more exciting the technology will be.

The types of cars that are being made take many different forms but do look a little different to the cars we are used to seeing every day. Some companies are looking to make a smaller car that’s more compact and small but some companies are looking to make a larger laid out car. This larger car would not have a traditional drivers seat and most of the car would look like more of a lounge. The idea of having a self driving bus or a self driving Uber is also being worked on. I don’t think I would trust a self-driving bus. I don’t see the need for Uber to do this because it just decreases the social interaction between people. Some people like to talk to their Ubers and it gives them something to do and waste time while they drive.

When will you be able to get in one and where are they making these? Google has been testing their cars on public roads in Florida, Michigan, Nevada and California since 2012. Uber has tested out some cars in Pittsburg with passengers and a backup driver. A few other companies have been doing limited testing throughout Europe and in China as well. There are some people that say these cars won’t be on the roads and for sale until 2030 but some believe it could be happening in 2020. The article I’ve been reading is a few years old and there are currently self-driving cars. These cars aren’t fully autonomous but it’s only 2025 and that’s a big step in the right direction.

After reading this article I’ve learned that there are currently self-driving cars, which I did not know before. I still don’t think I could trust technology like that to drive me at such fast speeds. I don’t think I would feel safe not having control of the vehicle. I think there will be fully autonomous cars by 2030. With the technology and the smart people we have working on these cars there is no way serious progress isn’t made in the next few years.
