Simple But Meaningful

The avatar made by Igalvez is very minimalistic but has a lot of meaning behind it. The colors used in this have a powerful meaning. Each color, red, green, black, and white, represents a distinct emotional state. Red symbolizes compassion, warmth, and empathy, encouraging kindness and community connections. Green is linked to happiness and positivity, fostering a sense of harmony and optimism. Black represents depression and can signify the heaviness and darkness experienced during difficult times, while White embodies emptiness, purity, and simplicity, offering a blank slate that promotes calmness and focus.

Igalvez’s avatar features a design that caught my attention with its powerful contrast. The split shape, divided into black and white, stands out against a bright red and green background. This division creates a captivating sense of tension. The black symbolizes depression and struggle, while the white represents a sense of emptiness. Surrounding this, the vivid red and green give a feeling of warmth and joy, attempting to provide a balance to the darker elements. Essentially, the avatar serves as a visual symbol of the human condition, illustrating our challenges, aspirations, and the fragile balance between contrasting emotions.

Igalvez said that he started his drawing by picking colors that he felt represented his different emotions. He said this process “became a reflection of my own feelings”, balancing warmth and positivity with moments of emptiness and darkness. Igalvez said he wants a “minimalistic drawing but meaningful”. During my process of creating my avatar, I also used emotion to make mine. I put in things I love, like my religion and being a CNA, which reflects my commitment to helping others and my belief system. I also incorporated elements that bring me joy and comfort, such as camping, and my friends, sunsets, and music. Each part represents who I am and captures the values that shape my life.
