Loud Noises and Bright Lights

When I looked at MRossignol27 (MR)’s avatar for the first time, I could see what he was showing people through his avatar. The main piece of the avatar is a black and orange T-shirt which blend together to represent the artist Whitechapel. The orange side, there is a big dollar sign similarly on the bottom, there is a spoon and fork crossed symbol. In the center, there’s a crowd surfing representation, and just right of that there is a big white speaker with sound waves, and vibration coming from the speaker.

The dollar sign meant to symbolize money to buy stuff at the concert. The spoon and fork mean MR can eat food at the concert. The speaker is for the music and bass at the concert. The people holding the guy up are the mosh pit and crowd surfing, which MR said is “fun at concert” and “community coming together.”  What I noticed first from his avatar is the vibrant orange, white, and black colors. The colors represent the band Whitechapel which makes dark and Loud heavy metal, which is one of his favorite bands. Whitechapel is a cool band which have change their style of the music they write. Whitechapel was creating music that was called raw deathcore in their early days. Now they are creating heavy metal and melodic music. When I asked MR what each of the colors meant, MR said: “I don’t know I did them to match Whitechapel”. He put down a T-shirt, showing that you get merch at the concert. The crowd surfing part is to show that fans can have fun at a concert in multiple ways.

MR’s avatar was pretty straightforward, and I could understand what he was put on his avatar. He just picked ideas that remind him of being at a concert. He didn’t make it super fancy just what he experienced at the concert. Even though I have never been to a concert I can imagine what it would be like to go to a concert though MR’s avatar.

My avatar is different but similar from his because MR did his concerts and I did mine on sports. Mine has a blue background representing the ice we skate on. Two hockey sticks crossed at the top to show rivalries that you have, three pointed spears pointing up showing the hard-fought victory in a triple overtime state championship game, and three little hearts meaning the 3 teams I helped coach. Also, I have a circle road representing the long road trips that I have to get to my hockey games, and the reason why it’s a circle is that I always go back to my home rink no matter how long I have not been there. Lastly, I have a white X that shows two things. The first one is the wear down in the ice as well as the Scotland flag that show that I always have time for vacation. Scotland is a beautiful country I had the pleasure of going to Scotland, and seeing all the mountains and pretty scenery give me a nice break from all the hard fought games I played in.

 MR’s avatar, showed me how much fun MR has a concert. Even though I’ve never been to a concert before I could relate to MR on how exciting and electric it is to be at a concert through. I experience something similar through hockey games because during the game there are chants, music, and sports apparel. With all the loud heavy metal music he listens to I could not agree more that it is fun, exciting, and worth the money paid to go to a concert like that.
