Living on April First

Today is April Fool’s day. Usually I’m prepared for its arrival but time has been flying by lately. It wasn’t until my second period class that I was reminded of it. Immediately I thought about what pranks might be awaiting me at home from my little brother. Every year he has pranks around the house. Except for the year when his prank was only pretending there was pranks. Which was just as bad. It made April Fools last for weeks among my family. I decided to start scheming pranks to play on him in return, before the day ended and I missed my chance.

But then I realized that everyday is practically April Fool’s in my house. My little brother  is always up to no good. Something he gets from my dad, another practical joker to be wary of. While it can keep me very entertained, it can also be hard to live with at times. My little brother exceeds the common difficulties of having a little brother. Some of the things that I face most commonly from him is being unable to watch TV because I’m getting shot by a Nerf gun. Or him filling an empty container of my favorite ice cream with water and then freezing it so I think it’s full. Until I open it up that is, and get hit with the painful realization. There’s also the times he hides creepy masks around my room. Often times he’ll just jump out to scare me. Although it’s an easy one, it always works because I’m very jumpy. Just the other day he combined the mask trick and the jumping out trick by waiting for me outside the bathroom, allowing me to see only his masked reflection off of a mirror. I don’t how he thinks of some of the things he does.

I still ended up with some time to think about what I might try on him this year but knowing him, I don’t know how successful I’ll be. My pranks usually end with him giving me a blank stare of “you could do better.” Despite that, I don’t mind whatever he has in store because my life would be much more boring without him.
