The 2013 Oak Hill Champions

Throughout the season the Oak Hill High School football team put so much hard work and dedication into the sport that they had enjoyed playing. Not only did the players put in the time to become a great team, the coaches and parents also took time out of their days to help the twenty-thirteen team get to where they needed to be in order to accomplish their dreams. The team had an amazing amount of support starting from the beginning, but once the other sports had ended and the boys had made it into the playoffs you could hear as well as see the excitement from the community. What had seemed liked everyone in the towns of Sabattus, Litchfield and Wales would show up at the games. The crowd was behind the team as every block was made, every step was taken, every tackle was completed and every time the ball was snapped. After all of the excitement almost everyone that had attended the game left without a voice. You can only imagine what it was like the day after the state’s game. Oak Hill had so many fans in the stands cheering them on, even when the score was close or silly mistakes were made the fans believed the team could do it, but more importantly the team itself believed they could do it.

The team was made up of thirty-nine football players and five coaches as well as the twelve cheerleaders led by their two coaches. Coach Doucette liked to include the cheerleaders into almost everything that the boys did such as team dinners and pep rallies. Though there were some people on the team that got some special attention throughout the year for their talent and hard work this year’s team was a very unselfish team that would have rather been acknowledged as a whole instead of as individuals. The team had a good bond that had each other’s backs and they stuck together. Throughout the entire season the team officially only lost one player, but that was because he had medical reasons that forced him to quit. Though the team did lose someone that is an incredible difference compared to other years in which they would lose five or even six players due to grades or lack of participation. Everyone on the team this year valued their spot whether or not they even got a chance to play in the games. The twenty-thirteen team was a special team that made everyone feel included even if they mostly just gave moral support.

I think this is a very thoughtful piece of writing and it brings back the feeling of the football season. I especially like this because of the way it talks about the community involvement.

This article reminds me of how closely-knit these football players were which most likely helped them to some degree go as far as to win states. Like the above comment mentioned it helped bring back the feelings from football season, and it is good to be reminded such a great accomplishment.

This piece was well written in the way that it made you reminisce on the past season. Being a part of Oak Hill made you realize that this school does have a lot of pride and given situations we come together as one. The football team created their own little family and the fans were the best we’ve seen in awhile. Altogether the community was brought together by this great football season.

This article brings me back into the fall during football season, when I made sure to be at every game to cheer on the guys. They weren’t just a football team, they were also a family. Overall this post was very well written and brought back good memories.

This brings me back to a time when I looked forward to going to school. The games that had us sitting on the edge of our seats or crying from the stands because we thought we wouldn’t make it or because a player got hurt. Also the fact that you brought in the community to show how we all supported the team and how we just all came together to support a great group of young gentleman.

This is a really great piece, it made me miss watching our team, except for the fact that it would mean starting the year over which is the last thing I want to do.

This is an amazing piece. I love how you talk about the team as a whole and how there are some people that have special talents the team is still one not made up of individuals. I feel as though this was a good reflection on the season.

This post seemed like it was written with passion. Just being a fan, up in the stands, at the championship game it gave me adrenalin. I could have imagined being on the field.

This is a great piece! There is nothing more that I would like to do then to have one more shot in those pads and although I may have gotten it this summer in the lobster bowl, it means nothing to me compared to playing with the family I have grown up playing with and the coaches, families, and community, behind us was the icing on the cake. There are no words to describe the feeling of playing on that field, looking over and seeing all the fans there to watch the opportunities that my family had created for ourselves is surreal. The only thing I would like to get out of the rest of my life is to get that feeling back. Great job writing this piece, it brought back some great memories for me!

This piece was put together very well because it brings back such sweet memories and how our school can come together as a family and that this is a good community.
