David Pastrnak adds a spark to the Bruins

David Pastrnak has proved that he is a force to be reckoned with after making 9 appearances in the NHL for the Boston Bruins. Being only 18, number 88 stands 6 feet tall and weighs in at 167 pounds. Originally Pastrnak was just a prospect for the AHL and had never even played in the AHL. He made his NHL with the Bruins on November 24th 2014 and logged 7 minutes and 53 seconds of ice time in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Penguins. Being just 18 years old this youngster netted his first two goals in the NHL on January 10, 2015, helping lead the Bruins to a 3-1 road win over the Flyers. The rule of the NGL is that before his 10th game of the season the B’s would have to decide whether or not they would be keeping him on the team for the rest of the season.

Today Bruin’s general manager Peter Chiarelli made the announcement that they would commit to keeping Pastrnak for the remaining of the season. This decision was made in order to help his development in his game at the black and gold’s practices. It is quite possible that they may send him down to the Providence Bruins to play a game or two if needed. There was a comment also made that there may be games where he does not see any game ice time. Pastrnak has made positive impact on the Bruins lines giving them offensive tenacity and even scoring game winning goals. After watching his performances in the past 9 games it is clear that this kid has a lot of potential and room for growth. Hopefully with this change to the roster, he will bring fire and continue to make things happen on the offensive as well as defensive aspects of the game.

Pastrnak is the youngest person to ever play a game in the NHL, and I think that is so incredibly impressive. Being the youngest, as well as one of the better players to skate for the Bruins this past season is just icing on the cake. I think that in 3 or 4 years after he has had more experience playing with the big dogs, the Bruins will definitely find a permanent spot for him on their roster. Do you think he would ever be traded? Or is he too valuable to get rid of? I have seen that the Bruins have a tendency to make bad decisions when it comes to trades: letting go some of the strongest players in the franchise’s history. I just hope that young David Pastrnak doesn’t have to leave Boston any time soon.
