Limited ingredients, limited time? This step-by-step tutorial will explain how to make mouth watering onion rings from scratch! Made with only 6 simple ingredients this recipe will make 2 servings of yummy homemade onion rings. Served as a side dish or appetizer, everyone will surely enjoy!

Main ingredient: Bisquick©. Let’s get started!

You will need:

1 or more large onion(s) (any kind)

Already prepared pancake mix (Bisquick©)

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

Vegetable oil/preferred frying oil

Raw scallions

Let’s Get Started:

1.) First peel outer layer off of onion, and cut off top and bottom

2.) Holding the onion on its side, slice vertically every couple centimeter creating rings

3.) Pull rings apart, and discard very middle

4.) Create fry batter by mixing pre-made pancake batter with paprika and garlic powder. This batter can be used for multiple onions at a time depending on desired number of servings

5.) Begin heating oil in a shallow fry pan on medium-low heat

6.) Drench rings in fry batter

7.) Using metal tongs place battered rings into pan once oil is heated (not smoking)

8.) Always be cautious of hot oil!

9.) Fry for three minutes, and flip!

10.) Continue frying until rings are crispy and golden-brown, this will take about two-three more minutes

11.) Remove from heat and place onion rings on paper-towel covered plate to absorb extra oil from rings.image (25)

12.) Top with scallions and favorite dipping sauce.

13.) Salt to taste if desired

14.) Pair with main entree, or serve alone as a appetizer
