Puppies? Are they worth it?

Everybody thinks that puppy’s are so cute and everybody wants to have a puppy, but do they really? After getting a puppy which was only 8 weeks old I was so happy thinking it was so awesome to have the cutest little dog that was all mine, but let me tell you his pooping and peeing is not cute and his crying at night is not fun! It is like welcoming a new baby into your home that the whole family is responsible for. If you are thinking about getting a puppy just think about this; they chew everything, anything they can get there little mouth on. They also go to the bathroom wherever they please so watch your step! But also remember that you are the one that is going to be cleaning it up too. They can be so cute and cuddly, but when they want to play, they want to play and you better be playing with them or they will be biting you, jumping on you, or looking for something they can destroy to get there energy out. Puppy’s are a lot of work and they need to be trained which takes up a lot of time so you mind as well clear your schedule as well because you will be dog sitting for the majority of your time.
Just remember that puppies are a huge responsibility and they need just as much love and affection as any other animal would if not more. They are easily comparable to a sour patch kid, “first they’re sour, then they’re sweet” first they will poop in your shoe, then they will nap and snuggle with you for two hours and it will melt your heart. Puppies are great just next time you ask your parents for one think about the responsibility of training, feeding, and loving your new dog for the next ten years.

Great post! How long does it take to normally train a puppy? Would you ever kennel your dog all day? I see that as like a prison for the dog what do you think?

I saw the featured image and just knew this was Bri, but I thought it would be about the love one has with their puppy. I got my first puppy when I was three years old and he was absolutely a handful, but I think it’s one they aren’t puppies anymore is when you realize how much fun it really is to own a puppy. From what I have experienced I believe you are going to miss your dog being a puppy dearly.

I love this post it really shows the tips and talks about how training a puppy can be hard. I really loved my dogs when they were young but they were a huge pain in the butt! I think that you will miss having that small dog because when they get older there’s a whole new set of problems awaiting you! Good luck! 🙂

The picture you used for this post is so cute! I agree though, dogs can really be a huge handful. I thought when I got my puppy about 9 years ago I think, that it would be awesome forever and that I would never get bored or tired of help training it or feeding it. But then as she grew up it started to get old having to come home before going places to take her outside, or to have to feed her while my parents were out of town. But dogs really are fun animals and are so loving and adorable 🙂

This post reminds me of every time we got a new puppy, 4 to be exact. Since I have experience with having to raise many dogs, what you are saying about having to train and take care of them is very true. Good luck!

Is 10 years the average span of life time for a dog?

The puppy in the picture is too cute! A puppy definitely needs a lot of attention and is a lot of work. I got my dog six years ago and thought it would be super easy to take care of. They are cute and adorable until they poop and pee in the house and you are the one to clean it up. Puppies are like babies but it gets better as they are older. Good luck! 🙂

Chad i agree that kennel training can be mean to a dog, but we do kennel him at night so he learns where he should sleep and he doesn’t destroy the house at night. I don’t agree with kennel training during the day because if anything a kennel should be a place that the dog enjoys going into and not seen as a punishment. We stop using the kennel once the puppy stage is over and he sleeps through the whole night without having to go to the bathroom. Training can take anywhere from 6 months to two years depending on how strict you are with your puppy and how dedicated you are towards training and we all know dogs that are never trained properly through there whole life!

That is the cutest dog I have ever seen! I have wanted a puppy for years and still have yet to get one. Do you think it would be foolish to get one so soon to leaving for college?

I will have to agree raising a puppy is just like raising a kid but not as stressful. Maybe you could talk about or could have talked about the best ways to deal with raising a puppy?

So are you discouraging people from getting a puppy or just trying to explain that it’s like taking care of a child?

Do you regret getting the puppy because of all the responsibilities that come with it? Are you saying that it isn’t worth it, or that it just requires a lot of attention and hard work?

Are you saying they are worth it, or not worth it? Do they get better as they get older?

Great post and has great information! I feel like there should be a little more information involved with the post giving us and idea of how puppies are as they get older and become well behaved after hours of training. Do you think you should train the puppies on your own or do you think that you should hire someone that knows how to train a dog effectively?

In your opinion, are there certain types of puppies that are harder or take longer to train?

I want to start by saying that your puppy is one of the cutest things I have ever seen. Also, I can attest to have much work it takes to take care of a puppy, since I have brought up puppies before. They are always tough, but in the end I think it is worth it.

So are you telling us not to buy a puppy or are you telling us what we can expect if we plan on getting a puppy?

I completely understand that puppies are really hard work because I have been there. But what are you trying to say to your audience?
