When Times Get Tough

A friend is someone who is there for you when times get tough. They are there for you when you are struggling and need help or when you just need a good laugh. Sometimes that friend who is helping you might be going through some tough things too, but being the good people the two of you are you stay together and get through the things together creating a strong friendship.

I personally help out more than one person, like a cheering team. I have cheered since first grade all the way to freshmen year. I started coaching sophomore year when I stopped cheering myself, currently I am still helping coach and helping the new and old cheerleaders try and learn new things. Last year as a junior I volunteered to cheer again with the middle school team because they had already started learning all of their routine and a teammate broke her arm. So instead of them learning a whole different routine three days before competition I learned the spots I had to fill in for, and learned it in three days, and we performed as an exhibition team because we had a high school student on the team. Nobody questioned the fact there was a high school student on the team because the younger girls were either the same size or bigger then me.

I also have helped coach and volunteered reffing Oak Hill Youth Field Hockey and I have even been asked to ref other teams games a couple of times. I played JV field hockey all four years in high school. I can’t complain though I did get some varsity playing time and I still had the time of my life because I was doing something I love. Freshman year we made it all the way to states. Without the help from the JV team being there at practices for varsity to play against for the day, we wouldn’t have made it. Freshmen year states didn’t go our way, as we sadly lost. Sophomore went the same way but this time we brought home the big W and a shiny gold statue trophy we still have bragging rights over to this day. This was the first ever time Oak Hill Field Hockey has a had their name up on one of the flags in the gym proving we had made history that day. Junior and senior year, we fought our hardest to try and bring home another state win. We practiced, we played and we bonded our hardest and with our hearts but the one is all we have gotten so far. Whether I’m going to be at a states game in the crowd or there coaching a state champion team on the side line I hope to be there again sometime. The feeling is worth all the trouble and emotions but most importantly it is worth it when you have good friends and teammates.

My mom has been a huge help in my life, without her I don’t know where I’d been in life. My parents went separate when I was a baby, so it was just her and I until she met my stepdad and his two older daughters. That was the best decision my mom has ever made for us. Now with my two big sisters being my closest friends growing up. Together my mom and stepdad had my younger brother and sister. My family has taught me many life lessons from since I was younger still to this day, so I know what I should do in almost any situation. I help a lot of people out more then they help me. I’m like my mom and volunteer to help to others and not as often do we get a lot of help back. But it is just as fun and nice to help people rather than them helping you. Yes I know even when times get really rough it is still very nice to have good family and friends come take care of you and help you through what your going through.
