Furry Friend

Having a solid couple of friends or even one solid friend is just good for you. As a human we depend on social interaction to get through life. I don’t think I could get through a day without talking to someone…unless i’m given a reason to stay quiet. Having friends is good for your mental health and your soul. It gives you satisfaction knowing you are not alone and that you are appreciated and loved.

I have no shortage of friends but it would be rude to choose between them so i’m choosing to talk about my cat. I swear my cat and I are spiritually the same being. He is probably my favorite thing on earth and yes I can admit that i’m a little obsessed with him. He was part of my cats 2nd litter and since he was born I was obsessed with him. He was the only kitten in the litter because his sibling died at birth. From the second he opened his little eyes he was my best friend. He followed me around like I was his mom, “helped” me do my homework and forced me to change my sleep schedule drastically because he enjoyed playing in the middle of the night. If I haven’t mentioned, his name is Marvin. At first we thought he was a girl so he had a different but soon distinct features proved us otherwise. Marvin suits him better anyway.

He has always been my cat and my family can testify and it’s honestly the best feeling because none of my other cats like me. He sure is a special cat. His favorite activity is catching bugs outside and torturing them. He has helped me sometimes more than my friends, no shade he just gets me. I went through a really emotional time in highschool for a pretty long time and he was always there. Whenever im crying or he can tell im sad he will come up and lay his head in my neck or cover my mouth with his boy. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t like the sound of crying. If that’s not what it is maybe he just tries to shut me up. He just keeps me emotionally and mentally stable..most of the time. He also likes to help with homework usually by biting my erasers of and walking on my keyboard but hey, it’s the thought that counts. It’s his way of appreciating what I do for him. I feed him 24/7 because he’s a growing boy, I give him limbs to attack when hes feeling playful, he sleeps in my bed and usually takes up the whole thing. I think the thing he appreciates the most is how I understand him and what he wants. He seems to think that he’s a wild tiger so he’s outside most of the night doing whatever Marvin does. Me being the best cat mom ever, waits for the lil nugget to decidedly come inside at 4 AM and let me go to bed. He knows he’s spoiled and he knows that he is loved. Wherever I go in the future, he is coming with because friends stick together.

I love this blog post so much!! I feel the same way about my cat. She is my best friend and I love how your cat was such a huge support system throughout all of the hard times and ups and downs that you have been through. I love how you found comfort in an unexpected place. Thank you for sharing this story!

That’s a cute story! Marvin is such a cute name! I can’t agree with you more about how animals can be your best friend sometimes because they just get you. Archer is the same way for me, he does the same thing Marvin does to you when you’re upset. Arch likes to cuddle and lay right on me with his face by mine. He stays in reach so I can pet him and not feel alone when I’m going through things. This dog is literally my best friend. Even though he can’t talk I feel like he listens better then anyone and understands me. I wouldn’t trade him for the world and just like you and Marvin, he will go anywhere I go in life.

I felt this. My dog keeps me from being bored, cheers up my sad days by cuddling up with me, and we both crave a heaping scoop of peanut butter together. The connection between your cat is like the same connection I have with my doggo.

Good story Josie! I can relate to my dog as well, feeling like when I have no one else, I got him. I’m glad I was able to relate to this story, and it all made sense. A little more background would’ve been nice, but over all great story!
