Stick to Your Devices

Parents should always have access to their child’s devices. In my most recent years I have entered adulthood and have had some realizations about how we view our rights as children. The fact is that children are not able to make decisions for themselves and they need to be protected as well. Their parents should be the ones keeping them from over exposure. It is hard for parents to protect their children if they are unaware of some dangers that their child is encountering. Everyone has a right to their privacy to some extent. A lot of children nowadays have cell phones that also exposes them to more dangers. Plenty of social media apps allow for people to take advantage of underage kids. I believe parents should have access to their child’s phone until the age of 18. Many of my friends have had issues with scammers on their phones growing up and it’s something kids should not have to deal with. Even if the parent is not necessarily the one paying for the phone they should have access to their child’s device out of the safety of their child. Social media and the internet is also filled with predators and dangers that children should never be exposed to. There are an estimated 500,000 online predators active each day. When the child grows to become an adult they have the knowledge to stay away and protect themselves from these monsters.
