A Little Laughter

We all love to laugh right? The story begins when I was about 10 years old, my sister, my mom, my stepdad, and I were in the car driving home after the movies. My mom mentioned a guitar for some reason and from that I just start thinking about guitars and my dad and his guitar immediately came to mind because he used to have a guitar in our house. I added that “Guitars are pretty cool” and then my stepdad told us about his air guitars. The next words out of my mouth were “OMG, that’s what my dad had! He had 3!” with the utmost confident tone and completely oblivious to the fact that air guitars and electric guitars are in fact not the same kind of guitars.

Everyone burst into laughter, my step dad laughed so hard while driving he had to pull over. He laughed so much he got a bloody nose due to my oblivious but serious answer. This obviously was embarrassing because, as I learned, air guitars aren’t a real-life thing. To top it all off, I thought having 3 was quite impressive.

It’s been years since this has happened and to this day I still find it very funny and humorous. As a result of this moment we’ve been laughing at this for years and years, and this very accurately represents me as a whole person. I can be so sure of something and also so wrong.

The importance of laughter is staying in positive emotional connection, Laughing with family and friends can be a great source of serotonin. Serotonin can be important to anyone and everyone because it goes hand in hand with your mental functions and helps with that positive emotional connection. This story has brought me serotonin, this moment has not only informed me about the difference between an air guitar and an electric guitar. This moment has also made me learn that it’s okay to laugh at yourself along with everyone else.
