Is graffiti an art? People see art as a way to express emotion and to show the artist’s imagination. Graffiti is used to show the same thing. I firmly believe that graffiti should be seen as an art because of cultural reasons, and because it’s often used as a way to relay messages. As long as it’s not damaging anyone’s property, which is probably a reason why people think it’s not considered an art

Graffiti has become one of the most powerful ways for people to express their culture and community. People within different communities like to use graffiti to express their stories and background, it gives a voice to people who might not have any other way of expressing themselves. By artists showing off cultural diversity and their creativity, graffiti turns public spaces into cultural representations of the society around them.

Graffiti should be considered an art because it allows people to share impactful messages with other people that might need it. With graffiti, artists can express their opinions about social issues and personal experiences in an artistic way. These messages can inspire change and can help people become a better version of themselves. They can also help spread awareness and give people a voice to be heard. By people using walls as canvases for impactful messages, it becomes more than just color on a wall.

Graffiti deserves to be recognized as an art because it requires high art skills, creativity and lots of dedication. In most cases, graffiti is often made on rough surfaces like concrete or bricks which can make color blending or shading difficult, ‘Although tagging is the most common type of graffiti, there are bigger, more accomplished examples that appear on larger spaces, such as walls.” (Dolan 3) These are often multicolored and complex in designmaking large detailed pieces takes precision and good control skill which not everyone can achieve. All the time and effort behind graffiti proves that it is a true form of art.

In conclusion, I think graffiti should be seen as a form of art because of cultural reasons, the messages people can relay within graffiti, and the skill and precision graffiti takes to make.
