Duke Ellington once said, “A problem is a chance for you to do your best,” which I believe ties into when people say, “When one door closes, another opens.” These two are similar in a way, with both making us feel like there’s always another option after one might “fail.”
For example, every year with the Super Bowl, many teams are defeated, yet without fail, they always come back to play the following year. This ties in with problems offering opportunities, because a setback a team has always gives room for the team to reassess and go out better and stronger. The opportunity is to get back on the field.
An example in my life would be deciding where I want to go after high school. I think of one possibility, but then that door closes, but turning around or to the side gives me a new door, or path that I can explore. Many people might feel this way now, and that is okay as long as we continue trying new doors and different paths.
The greatest advice that I have been told was, “You don’t need a straight path, just any path.” With doors, opportunities, and paths, you can find your way when each opens new things for everyone, or to keep you with the same successful opportunities. Though you might run into different problems throughout your life, you have to open your eyes and your heart to see that there will be new doors and opportunities that will send you on a different path, but the correct one.
