Well It’s official Finding Nemo 2 has finally been confirmed, and they certainly took there time making it. It has been around seven years since the last movie and fans had almost lost hope that they would ever see another. However one must never loss hope of seeing there favorite film receive a sequel it most defiantly deserved. Keep in mind that it was eleven years between Toy Story Two and Toy Story Three, and this is not even a Pixar thing, after years of fans thinking the story had closed Star Wars is coming back for another three. All the above are Disney movies as well, however not all movies have anything to do with that company. An example of that would be Jurassic Park, which is releasing it’s fourth installment in 2014, when there had not been one since 2001, a total of thirteen years! Also reboots are always a possibility, a reboot is where a company has not done anything with a particular franchise in a long time and finally does something with it again.
This article is about movie sequels, however the best example of a reboot was from a video game franchise. The Kid Icarus franchise only had two games, the original Kid Icarus and the sequel Of Myths and Monster, there would not be another for around twenty-five years. Kid Icarus‘ protagonist pit saw his chance to shine in his first appearance since Of Myths and Monsters in the third installment of the popular franchise Super smash bros. Since the creator of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Masahiro Sakurai, was also the creator of the Kid Icarus reboot he was able to gauge the public’s reaction. For old Kid Icarus fans, it was like seeing a long lost friend. For new fans we meet a new friend. In the end Pit was a hit and Kid Icarus Uprising soon followed. This game was everything a reboot is when done perfectly. It had comedy, action, everything was new and fresh because it had to be after twenty-five years. Yet the game still paid homage to it’s predecessor. Movies do reboots too, but many of them are harshly criticized by old fans. This is because reboots are harder to accomplish than a simple sequel. Thankfully Finding Dory (the real name of the Finding Nemo sequel) is not a reboot, and I am eager to see the final film.
