Mr. Young is an amazing English teacher through the way he supports his students. An example of this was when a student in his class was severely struggling with attendance and behind in classes. Mr. Young took time out of his own busy schedule to help get this student back on track and showed a lot of support this way. In his classes, he spends a lot of time and effort putting together his lectures for class and is always ready to teach us something new. This is an extremely good way to teach students who need to be kept busy and need a challenge focused on work.

Mr. Young’s avatar was the concentric hearts. Concentric hearts represent love. His avatar was a representation of the love he feels for his family. The colors of each heart symbolize each family member. The outer color is red, this heart that surrounds the rest of them equals love. The next heart is the color purple, which represents his wife, and her favorite color. The next heart is green, and represents his son who was born on St.Patrick’s Day. The next heart is blue. This heart represents Mr. Young himself who wears the color blue quite often. The final heart, which is in the center, represents his daughter, who was born in February. I was impressed by how Mr. Young’s entire avatar grabbed my attention because I share in my own avatar how much I value family.
Mr. Young’s process for creating his avatar, I suspect came from what he values most in life, his family.“The hearts are an example of the Russian nesting dolls” Mr.Young states, with one heart wrapping around the next. Similarities between Mr. Young and my own avatar include the love of family and the use of hearts as a symbol. Differences between Mr.Young and my avatar include other things I simply enjoy outside of family such as shopping, driving, my cat Oliver and friends.
This avatar activity really helped me to better understand my partner, Mr. Young through the interview process and also through listening to what he values the most, his family! The Russian Nesting Doll example using Nesting Hearts, with each heart symbolizing an immediate family member, including his wife, son and finally the center heart his daughter was a perfect example of the love he has for his family. I especially appreciated that each heart’s color was also a symbol that represented something special about each family member. The center heart was pink for his daughter who was born in February. The outer heart was red for the surrounding love he has for the family members. The second heart closest to the outside surrounding love heart, was purple for his wife whose favorite color is purple. The third heart was green for his son who was born on St. Patrick’s Day. Overall this Avatar strongly represented Mr. Young and what he values most, his family!

In Dfourniers23’s post, I really admire the depth she goes into about Mr. Young. She goes into great depth on Mr. Young’s values as a husband, father, and teacher. You can learn so much about an essay most importantly, we learn from this that he loves his family. When Dfourniers23 says ” The outer heart was red for the surrounding love he has for the family members. The second heart closest to the outside surrounding love heart, was purple for his wife whose favorite color is purple.” This quote about JYoung’s avatar really portrays the love and care that he has for his family.
When reading this, I could very easily connect this to my own family member like my dad. My dad will do anything for my family. It doesn’t matter the amount of time or sacrifice that he has to give up, he will do it. I think Dfournier23 wrote this blog in the way she did because she wanted the unappreciated part of all teachers and parents to be noticed. When she would talk about Mr. Young and how he took time off his already busy schedule to help students.s It puts things into a bigger perspective.
Reading this and thinking about my dad helped me realize that all parents and teachers give up so much for their kids. But as kids, we don’t realize it right off. Kids don’t realize the real-world perspective sometimes, they don’t do things that they are supposed to, and they don’t have a grasp on what it’s like to be an adult depending on who you are. The thing Mr. Young does is care about those kids and shows that everyone needs some help sometimes. If you think about it, at one point or another, some adult figure has done something they didn’t want to do for a kid, because it’s the right thing to do.
If anyone replies to this comment or reads it and is interested. Just take some time to think, think about that time a teacher has given you extra help on something even though you procrastinated on it. Think about that time your dad or mom gave you some of their food because you were still hungry. It doesn’t take long to realize that parents and teachers are very special. They give up so much, even if they get nothing in return.
