Spectacular Sensors

The Idea of driverless cars scare me but also excites me. The idea of having a robot or ai control a deadly weapon could be very scary to some but to me I see it as possibility to push us even further into the future. The technology used to have driverless cars is very cool. The driverless car may happen soon but still lacks in some aspects. Though this technology is also being used in other things besides car to help humans quality of life. Driverless cars may not be ready yet it still they allow people with disabilities to use them for help.

Driverless cars use new and approved technology to allow cars to drive on there own. The technology they use are sensors which tells the car what to do and when to do it. The sensor for example could detect that the speed limit is 55 mph and change you’re speed according to the spped limit allowing you to slow down if your going to fast or speed up. The driverless car uses the gps inside the car to go in the direction you want allowing the car to go with what you put into the gps. Another really needed feature that is with the sensors is that they can detec other cars pedestrians and pets. The car will slow down and go around obstacle in a safe manner which allows the car to not commit manslaughter. These sensor are the main part of driverless cars which allows the car to see and react to other obstacles around it.

The limitations to this idea of a driverless car is the sensors them selves. First sensors can’t see as far as human eyes can . “The lack of rang the sensors have cause many problems like crashes” (Gibbs) You might see that there is a traffic jam farther up ahead and might start to slow down. While the driverless car may not notice to later. That could cause your brakes to be used more ruffly and might lead to more repairs. Speaking of repairs the sensors are the only thing that keeps this afloat. The sensors could brake mid drive making it so your car can’t see some part around you cause this to be very dangerous. The sensors could cost an arm and a leg. “Cars already cost a ridiculous amount of money” (Gibbs) This could mean it’s possibly cheeper just to drive yourself because you don’t want to repair the senors. These problem that the sensors have could be problematic to driverless cars.

These sensors may be exspensive or they can break when they are on a car, but they don’t just have to be on cars. They can be on big trucks that carry dirt around which if they used the sensor not to auto drive but to help see there blind spots that they could not see before. These sensors could be throughn on robots so they can move around without crashing in to anything. The sensor used in the driverless cars I think could also help people with disabilities they can help people who struggle to move in a wheel chair. The wheel chair could have sensors on them that allow it to move around obsticals without the person on the wheel chair to worry. This could also help blind people who use them to sense whats around and tells you whats there.

The driverless cars will come in the future and i’m all for it. The driverless car will allow others to rest in there car. This will also help big trucks with blind spots to see danger around them. This future is also going to help people with disability and how they get around. The future for driverless cars is a bright future for the car and the future for disability.
