The Simple Things in Life

The avatar made by cleach26 was very simple. He chose to incorporate only two elements. The most apparent component is the Volkswagen logo. Cleach26 “owns a Volkswagen”, and Volkswagen happens to be his “favorite car brand”. The element that’s not as obvious is his color choice. At first glance the Volkswagen logo  in the avatar looks to be black, but in reality it is navy blue. He chose this color since it’s his “favorite color”.

Not much was surprising during this process. It’s hard to be surprised when things are pretty straight forward and simple. However, in the end, I realized that the simplicity is what shocked me. When we were given the assignment of creating avatars I never thought about doing one well known symbol and a color, yet that’s the path cleach26 took. 

My process of creating my avatar and the process of cleach26 creating his avatar were polar opposites. He took the simple route while I went more complex. While he only had two elements, I had five elements. I had obvious colors, and his was more difficult to detect. I decided to do mine totally on paper, yet his was done online. Cleach26 had many different designs with different elements, but I only had one design with a different arrangement of colors. 

Despite our differences in the process and end result we have one thing in common. Both of our avatars are solely ours. We made our avatars ourselves, and they reflect our one person. The way that the avatar cleach26 made reflects him was in a way that was simple and not very personal.
