What’s a laugh? I’m not saying these little chuckles someone makes after telling a joke. I’m talking about a laugh that makes a bond with someone. A bond with someone, and you just know this person is made to be your best friend. We all have those people we feel so comfortable around that we can truly be ourselves. Knowing you won’t be judged or looked at because, in the end, they’re your people, the people that make you happy, your friends. Maybe you don’t know this, but laughing or having funny memories to look back on makes friendships stronger. Now, with me, I don’t think my friend group can remember exact times and what made us laugh to grow a better bond with each other, but the memories we make that make us laugh and look back on like, ” What the hell are we doing?” I have these thoughts all the time, looking at my photos, remembering the things and days we spent together. One of my friend groups has 4 of us in total. We always hang out, and we’ve been close for about 2 years now. There are a few stories that I can share that we look back on and always have a good laugh.
There was this one day last summer. I remember it very well because it was so hot outside. It was the middle of June or maybe the end. In my friend group, I’m the only one with my license. So I end up driving everywhere and all the time. So I have leather seats in my car with no AC. We thought it was going to be a good idea to drive down to OOB. Spend the whole day there since the UV will be high and the waters will be cool enough to cool us off and swim. Well, someone forgot to mention in the moment how hot the car ride was with no AC. I really don’t know if this was a good idea. We have a lot of pictures and memories of that day. Our sweat on the leather seats. Burning our hands on the buckles. How loud it was on the highway because we needed air flow in the car, so the windows were all a little down. I have to say, I think back and laugh at how we thought this was a good idea. We all went back to our main hangout house to lie in a kid pool till we had basketball practice later that day. I really don’t know why we did this.

Another time is literally anytime we are in the car. I believe that we are always about to blow my speakers out of my car. One of us always starts laughing hysterically because we play music really loud, and whoever sits in the back is having a good time dancing. There was this one time we went to Aromas or some drink place. Both drinks were casually in the cupholders that pull down in the center. Again, my speakers are normally really loud, so while driving, I don’t really hear anyone talking until this happens. I take a turn, and I hear yelling. I look in my mirror to see one of them sitting up because their drink has spilled all over the seat. So the person in front had to take napkins and throw them back there. Now I say this because after we clean up, we are always laughing. After all, there is not a time in my car when there’s not a mess from one of us.
These memories make me laugh. These memories we made together will forever stick with us. The bond you hold between friendships is so unique. There’s not a day that goes by that even in the future, when the world might separate our friendship. I will always remember these memories of us laughing together and having an amazing time, and the bond that I could never replace. Now, what I forgot to mention and the reason why I’m the only one in my friend group with a license is that I’m two years older than these people. In a few months, I’m going to college while they finally become upperclassmen. I’ll cherish all the laughs I had with them and all the memories.
