If I had to give up a part of everyday society, I think I’d choose to give up my phone and social media. It’s such a constant presence when it comes to notifications, texts, and scrolling: while it helps me stay connected, it also takes up a lot of mental space. Without it, I think I’d feel more present and less distracted, probably spending more time talking to people face-to-face, or just thinking without background noise. My relationships might even feel more genuine because I’d be focusing on real conversations instead of quick messages or posts. The biggest drawback would be losing convenience and connection, since so much of school, communication, and daily life revolves around technology. It would be hard to stay updated or make plans without it. Honestly, I don’t think I could give it up completely while living the way I do now—I’d probably need to separate myself for a while to really make it work. If I did manage to give it up, I think I’d feel a bit disconnected from others. I'd still be part of society, just living by my own values rather than constantly plugged into everyone else’s world.
