Procrastination

From all of the years of schooling everyone creates bad habits with their study habits here and there. One common bad habit is procrastination, procrastination can happen not only with school but it can also happen in sports.
Procrastination with school has become one of the worst yet biggest habits for most students throughout America. Schools in America have become more relaxed with things like deadlines and requirements which lets the students pass assignments in late without any consequences. The looseness of the school systems is preparing students to fail and is not setting them up for the real world. I personally find that I have a very hard time with deadlines because I am very good at procrastinating. This is not good because it causes me fall behind and to almost fail several classes.
Procrastination is something very important to avoid when you’re an athlete. Some athletes are prone to injury and when injuries happen it is very important for them to keep working no matter what but at the same time need to rest. They can continue to work by improving their skills that don’t require movement of that part of injury. I personally have experienced this because Freshman year I had a knee injury from playing in a softball game, I did not work for a few weeks and even in just that little time it was not easy to get back to where I was before. I got my knee injury from running to first base, the first baseman went for the ball, missed it, back peddled to first and as I stepped on the base she fell she sat on my foot throwing me over her body. This chain of mistakes during this one inning led to my procrastination in getting back to where I was before. To this day of Senior year the procrastination that I had for getting back into practicing is working against me because I have to wear a brace. Procrastination for athletes in any sport is not good because it can set them back farther than they should be or would like to be at their level of competition.
As a result of procrastination in school and sports having a huge effect on each other it’s becoming more and more popular for students and athletes throughout the United States to become lazier and fall behind on their skills and academics. If you are a student athlete and choose to procrastinate, this choice will not only affect your grades in school but you will become ineligible to play sports. Becoming ineligible means you can not play in games or practice with the team and more than likely if you don’t practice with your team than you won’t go practice skills by yourself.
Procrastination is a bad habit and a very big mistake that many students and athletes make when in school or injured. Procrastination is very common is students and in athletes, it not only affects the futures of students but also the futures of athletes.
