My Families History

My family has done a lot and been through a lot over the years and from my parents and grandparents telling me stories. On my dads side of the family there is a huge story line in the late 1800’s my great great grandmother moved to New Haven Connecticut from Germany and began to work in the mills. Her and her husband my great grandfather worked in the mills and then my great great grandfather joining the army in the early 1900’s and served and world war one. He later came back and had a son my great grandfather Pop he a truck driver his whole life and had one of the biggest tempers and loved to fight he lived to be 100 years old and was one of the healthiest people I’ve ever heard of he never had any medication his whole life and smoked filter less camel cigarettes from when he was 8 to he was 64 and god knows how many he smoked since he was a truck driver being stuck in a truck just chain smoking like a chimney. His son my grandfather and my grandmother owned a restaurant on main street in Lisbon Falls for 47 years called Marriose but before that my grandfather grew up in new haven Connecticut and was a paratrooper in the 50’s but he never saw any active combat and met my grandmother in New Haven Connecticut as well and she had a very hard life growing up my dad told me story about her when she was a kid they were dirt pour and she raised all of her siblings by herself her parents didn’t do anything she did everything by herself she cooked cleaned and took care of her siblings. When it got cold out she would walk the railroad tracks to get rocks they warm up  and they would put them in there bed under the blankets just so they wouldn’t freeze to death at night. In the early 70’s they moved to Lisbon falls. My mom grew up in Lisbon falls and my other grandmother was a great woman but unfortunately her old boyfriend use to beat her all the time and was a raging alcoholic but thankfully she got rid of him and he died. She would have done anything for anyone and never had a lot of money. My mom has four siblings and my uncle stopped going to school so he could help my grandmother with money. My mom also never finished school when she was 16 my mom had a full time job and her own place with her own bills.everyone’s family has a really long history and everyone’s lives are different but we all know one thing if it wasn’t for the family members before us we would not be in the position that were in today and people need to realize that and they need to be extremely grateful for that within the past century the world and our country has changed so much and so drastically at the rate it keeps going soon we will have cures for diseases we never thought that would have been curable. The people that are responsible for this drastic change in the world is all of our family’s history put together and they have worked long long hours day and nights to help better the future for your family. The hardest working people i know came from my family from coming from nothing to becoming the empire of a small little town in Maine that everyone knew my grandparents. Every time i go to Lisbon i see someone i know like a family friend or someone i have no clue who they are some old person asks if i’m a Benziger because I look just like one. I remember going to preschool at yellow bird in Lisbon and my mom picking me up and then going to my dads old work Ferns body shop to see him and then going to mariose and seeing my grandparents and getting the same lunch everyday carrot hot dogs and chocolate milk. Since then sadly all of my grandparents have passed in pass for years. But the people i am most motivated for and I am truly blessed to call my family. I have met some of the nicest people in the world because of my family and I have some great stories to tell my kids and my grand kids in the future.Photo on Foter.com
