Mistakes happen

During a soccer game against a rival team, it was a very competitive game and a hard-fought game from both sides. We and the other team have all had chances to score the game has been back and for the whole game, it was the second game of the season. This was at the beginning of the season so we had only played one other game before this and we won it 5-3.

The team we played against, we hadn’t beaten since our sophomore year of high school. The game I’m going to be talking about is a game where the rival team has beaten us every time we have played them on the pitch for 12 straight years in a row. When the game started it was a hard battle between teams up until the end when it was still zero-zero until the end of the game when a perfect pass in-between defenders went through and the goalkeeper missed the ball and my teammate was through on an open goal and misses. The crowd at the game was pretty big because we and the other team are close to each other in distance so people wanted the show up and support each other. All you heard when he was on goal all you heard was cheers from the spectators from my team but then my teammate missed the open net by hearing it hit the outside of the post. His missing the net was a pretty big miss just because the game would’ve been ours and we would have won the match. When he missed the net at the end of the game when the full-time whistle blew and we were in a huddle after the game he said “I’m sorry guys I should’ve scored that”. After he said that everyone on the team consoled him as he was doing one of the best on the team during the game even missing it was an amazing game for both teams. At the time of him missing the open net, everyone was in complete disbelief and distraught that he had missed the open net. At the end of the day, everyone on the team and the spectators still said that he had a good game and wasn’t mad about it because people should be nice to him after all the hard work he did on the field. With the adrenaline, and happiness he probably thought he was going to make it, but at the end of the day mistakes happen in the moment he looked like he was every emotion possible to feel at that moment mad, and sad.

At the end of the game since we hadn’t won or tied against them in an extra long time we were all happy including him because we tied a really good team and weren’t mad at him at the end of the day because everyone did their part, including him.
