Money Moves

It’s me again. International best, Danika,

I don’t have much to say, but this is some advice I’ve worked best for me, and may you too! To start, I’m going to reference one of my favorite movies from when I was younger, which I’m sure you all know of, as Alvin and the Chipmunks, and my favorite character is probably someone you wouldn’t expect? Alvin; because he’s rebellious and fun? Simon; because he’s smart and cautious? Maybe Theodore; because he’s sweet and adorable? (Spoiler alert: it’s NOT him, I actually hate Theodere), Well you’d be wrong, my favorite character is Uncle Ian.

“What Uncle Ian did to those chipmunks was immoral; he was exploiting them!” Exactly. And he’s a genius.

You see, Dave Saville was a good father to his adopted/kidnapped boys and supported them in their talents, but they really got all their fame from someone who actually didn’t care about them, the infamous Uncle Ian.  I believe it was Kodak Black that said, “Out here you gon’ eat or starve, man. I’ma need what’s on your plate, gimmie that,” Now, if you didn’t know, Dave actually used to be signed to Jett Records, working for Ian, however Ian cut him off for his music being too “slow” and not what the people wanted to hear. Although Dave’s music wasn’t awful, it wasn’t going to get him by, and Ian even says this in the beginning of the movie when he says, “But I am your friend, so I’m going to tell you there is no sense in writing songs that no one is ever, EVER, going to sing.” Ian wants something bigger and better, as should we, the audience. Keeping Dave around wouldn’t benefit Jett Records at all. Now when Ian DID see the chipmunks talents he knew this was his chance and he took it, as should we!

It’s important to keep friends and family around, but it’s also good to not keep bad company around, especially friends that will bring you down and keep you down. Every decision we make is to improve the outcome of our day which progresses our lives. We need to take our opportunities and our chances to improve ourselves, and not hold back because of feelings. In this world it is literally the saying “the early bird gets the worm”, and I want that worm. And so should you. Ian is making money moves, and we should too. I’m hoping, after reading my essay, when I say, Uncle Ian is my favorite, I hope you quote the famous Kevin Gates and say, “Me Too.”
