Orange is Not the New Black

Mkauffman24’s avatar consists of a tree with falling leaves, a road that goes off into the distance, a football, and lastly a lighthouse. My first time seeing the avatar I could point out most things and somewhat knew what they represented. I thought it was a well-thought-out avatar, and because I know Mkauffman24 pretty well it mostly made sense to me. The road grabbed my attention the most, though.

The road and the trees grabbed my attention the most because they both could mean many different things. After interviewing Mkauffman24 I learned that the tree represented the season of fall because he likes the colors and “childhood memories of the holidays.” (Kauffman) I also learned that the road represented his road to success and “ultimate goal of posterity.” (Kauffman)

He also said that it “symbolizes the long road ahead” (Kauffman) Which I find pretty interesting because most people would put things that symbolize their life right now, but he is including something that resembles his success up ahead.

Our avatars are pretty different in some ways, but we do have some similarities. For example, the road he put in the middle of his avatar resembles future success, but could also mean other things. I stuck with things that meant a lot to me in the present and only really had one meaning. The mountains in my avatar represent nature, the sun represents summer, the green background means money, and the red stitches around the sun resemble baseball stitching.

In conclusion, Mkauffman24’s avatar is a pretty good, well-thought-out piece of work that resembles his life and future ideas very well. The road grabbed my attention because it could’ve meant many different things, but after Mkauffman24 explained it to me saying it represented his future success, I thought that was interesting.
