Queen- A Night At The Opera

Freddie Mercury is the lead singer, the one who captured the attention of their millions of fans. Queen began back in 1967, when guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor joined a group called Smile. Staffell soon left to go solo, and the remaining two teamed up with Freddie Mercury. They played very few gigs at the start. They began touring in 1973, when their debut album was released. The band kept getting more popular and worldwide. Queen’s sound combined rock, heavy metal, and amazing vocal harmonies from Mercury’s voice.

The Album entitled A Night At The Opera is of of Queen’s greatest albums in the world. This album has helped many get through trying situations and good times. These songs were written with thought and memories of weird moments.

Queen’s album A Night At The Opera can be found pretty much anywhere. One of the top songs in this album is called Lazying on a Sunday Afternoon. This song basically talks about how this man is working non-stop all week long. He finally gets to take a break every Sunday afternoon. He’s so grateful for this relaxing time because once Monday comes, he has to get back to working. The idea being that he’s just an ordinary guy with a very busy life. Another song in the album is called I’m in Love With My Car. The band shares their thoughts on this song, “I remember my car at the time, because I think we’ve got the exhaust on the record, and that was a little Alfa Romeo. But I think it was more about people in general, for instance boy racers. In particular we had a sound guy/roadie at the time called Jonathan Harris, who was in love with his car, and that inspired that. I think he had a TR4, Triumph TR4.” The song called Bohemian Rhapsody was written in the year of 1992. The band states, “a New Jersey high school helped revive this song in America. Students in Clifton, New Jersey asked to sing it at their graduation, but the principal refused because he associated it with Freddie Mercury, who had died of AIDS the year before. This led the students to flood New York radio station Z100 with requests for the song.

The music video for I’m In Love With My Car is relevant to the song. Many music videos are not so relevant. The reason they wrote the song is because they were reminded of boy racers. In this video, they’re racing cars bikes. They’re races getting faster and more exciting, showing their obnoxious fun. Posted October 15, 2013, by Queen Official Enjoy the music video!
