Questions Lead To Answers

What is declared as a stupid question, to me I find nothing a stupid question. How I got this mind set one may ask, well I seemed to obtain it when I first got a car. See my brother is a mechanic, thus I tend to ask him a lot of questions about my car anytime it makes a noise or a light comes on ect. When I had my first car my 2001 Oldsmobile Alero there was plenty wrong with it, when I had first asked why my brakes are going all the way to the ground I asked myself was that a really stupid question. I had thought I am playing the stereotypical girl who is seriously asking a man a stupid question like “why is my brake going to the floor”. Well when I asked that his response was a laugh, I think it was mainly the way I described it however he did take a look at it for me. He drove my car for ten minutes down the road and came back and said “You weren’t kidding”, turns out all four of my brake lines had a leak in it and I had absolutely no brake pads and that is why it went to the floor was because I had basically no brakes, my emergency brake didn’t even work I could go forty with it up. I had it brought into the shop and it got fixed about five-hundred dollars later and two weeks later.

As my luck had it when I got my car back everything seemed fine for the first week, then I went to drive my car on my way home from work and my car vibrates when I turned my wheel, and I had to muscle my steering wheel. As you can guess I called my brother, he basically said have you put power steering fluid in, which would indicate hey this is a stuipid question to ask. I checked my power steering and It was full, thus being given the example of the brakes my brother took a look at it. Turns out my question was not stuipd, my steering wheel pump worn out and that is why I could not steer. Turns out my “stupid” questions were the right questions, because had I not asked them and kept driving my old car I possibly could have gotten in an accident. However I took concern, I asked those “stuipd” questions and it possibly saved me and anyone else on the road.

After that car I have learned that not only with cars, but with everything there is no such thing as a stupid question. It seems stupid at first when asking a commonly obvious question like “when is this due?”, “Why is my car making that noise?”,”What time is it?” see these all seem like stupid questions but in reality these are questions of responsibilities. In my eyes a stupid question is one that comes in a form of responsibility, it is our way of keeping everything in check and making sure we are accountable for the actions taken. If we do not ask these silly questions then how are we to make sure we are safe, accountable, and knowledgeable. There is a saying, “the smartest people ask the stupidest question however receive a wise acknowledge in return.” this is a quote that I tend to live by every day.

Some people tend to feel embarrassed or incapable about asking these stupid questions, this is why they will not ask them. This not asking is what can make these people do not have much knowledge on the topic like what date the summative is due and they turn it in late due to this lack of knowledge. After learning the value of asking stupid questions when I would ask them about my car that those questions actually have a solution and this made me become unembarrassed whenever I have questions to speak up and ask them. I have accomplished a lot more with not letting my insecurities get to me and just asking the questions that should be asked. In conclusion everyone has at least once in their life asked those stupid questions and yeah they probably got embarrassed for a quick second but there is reason they asked that question, weather it be that they were curious or missed some information or were genuinely concerned. If I had not asked stupid questions till this day I would not be as responsible  as I am today in the decisions that I make.
