It was the winter of my junior year and I was driving home from a basketball game really late at night when I hit a deer. As soon as I got everything situated and I was back home the first person I texted was Julia, I said, “I just hit a deer and I just got home. My car is now a mess and I don’t know if I’m going to be able to sleep at all tonight”. She answered within five minutes of me texting her. She answered by saying “Are you okay? Do you need me to come over?”. At first, I didn’t want her to because it was late and I would’ve felt bad making her come all the way to my house that late at night, but then I got thinking and I knew she would’ve just ended up coming over anyway at this point.

Julia got to my house around eleven to eleven-thirty. Once she got out of the car she gave me a big hug and we talked for a couple of minutes. After I showed her my car and explained what happened. My passenger side headlight was shattered the front fender was all dented and pushed in and my fog light and grill were all chipped and missing pieces. After I showed her what happened she said “Gesh the whole front side of your car is mangled. Did you ever find the deer?” I said “Nope. I pulled over and looked for it for like twenty minutes and never found a thing.” Once I got everything situated, it felt like the time had just flown by, and by the time I had gotten into bed, it was already past one in the morning. We had school the next day and we were both so tired from staying up the night before.

I’m so very grateful to have a friend like her because even though it was super late and on a school night she didn’t hesitate to ask if I needed her over. She made sure I was okay and kept me distracted for a good portion of the night so I wasn’t up all night thinking about it and what had happened. She is so helpful and considerate always thinking about others before herself and she is what everyone would want in a friend, there’s no doubt in my mind. Thank you, Julia.
