Stupid questions are a thing

I believe that stupid questions are a thing and that they happen to the best of us. All my life I have always been a kid to ask a lot of questions and sometimes I got made fun of the questions I would ask. I don’t know why but I just feel the need to ask questions whenever a thought pops into my head. This has led me to being scared of asking questions when I do really need help on something or just have a question in general. But not all questions have to be looked at badly, we all ask stupid questions.

When I was younger I remember when my family would always drive past this golf course and there would always be golfers crossing the road in golf carts. I always wondered to myself “why do they just cross the road and not anywhere else safely”? So I asked my mom “How do the golf carts cross the road”? My mom gave me the weirdest look and both her and my sister started laughing. I was so confused and then I realized the way I phrased the question. I felt so embarrassed about this moment but It’s a good memory to think about because stupid questions happen and you just have to get over them. Still to this day my mom and sister bring it up. When I’m in school or in sports I always have questions but sometimes I just get scared to ask them because I feel like I am interrupting or just feel like it is a stupid question. But the more I learned through experience, most of the time you will ask a legit question and sometimes the stupid ones will slip. But asking questions is what has led me to get through school and succeed in it because if I didn’t ask questions I would just be sitting there confused with no help. I feel like the worst time to ask questions though is in sports. I know that I am one of the better athletes on the team and I believe that the coaches know that as well. Me being one of those kids tells myself that I should know everything and be perfect at what I do. But that motive led me to being a better athlete and has brought me down in some situations in games. So I told myself that I am going to ask questions because they will help me get better. So anytime in sports that I had a question about the game or just doing a basic drill I would because I wanted to be on top of everything and know what was going on or how to do it. If I didn’t ask questions in sports I feel I wouldn’t have been as successful of an athlete I am then I could have been not asking questions.

That being said stupid questions do exist and you can’t let that stop you from moving on in life. We are all humans and we are not meant to be perfect, we are not supposed to know everything. That is why there are so many of us that hold different knowledge in the world. So if you don’t have an idea what to do in a situation, then stop thinking to yourself and ask a question. Because I know that there will be a person out there that can help you. Questions help you move forward in your life and you should not be afraid to ask them.
